Roseflower Creek by Jackie Lee Miles

this was really a very good book, I read it in two days. It is about a 10 year old little girl telling her story before her death. It starts with her stepfather killing her. Then she goes on to tell her story. She loses a friend, Her aunt loses her baby, another baby goes into an iron lung at 3 years old and almost dies. Her Mother tries hard to be a good mother, but after the 10 year olds father leaves she gets mixed up with an abusive man whole ends up stealing 10 thousand in cash from a mill he worked at. The 10 year old saves her stepfather from a fire and she gets him to believe the cash burned up in the fire, well he finds out she is lying when so goes back to get the cash. He beats this 10 year old to death and kidnaps her mother and goes on the run. He never gets the cash. In the end the mother shoots the husband and is found guilty of murdering her child and she never says anything against the fact.  she goes to prison and dies of rat poisoning.

I give the book 4 and a half stars.........it was a very intriguing book

Summer at Willow Lake by Susan Wiggs

Okay, this is my first book review! yay! i have over 400 books I am working on so hopefully this will be an awesome place to come to read reviews on books for anyone looking for a good book to read :)

Summer at willow lake is a book that mostly takes place at a camp called Kioga. Olivia is a smart, sweet, compassionate woman and very no nonsense, she is overweight as a child going to camp, embarrassed by her body and she hides is by being boisterous and happy all the time. Connor is a hard edged, no nonsense, rough around the edges type of kid, and very very good looking. The two meet as young kids at camp and are paired to introduce each other to the other kids at the camp.  They instantly like and dislike each other :)

Summers pass and they see each other every summer, girls are jealous because Connor talks to her and they don't understand why he would want to talk or hang out with the fat chick. (said in the book)

the summer when they are 16 he comes up missing and doesn't show for the next two summers until they are 18 and Olivia becomes a camp counselor, then she sees him again, bigger, broader, and more handsome. He says he hasn't been to camp in a couple of years cause his mother and step father put him to work, His father is a drunk and works and lives at the camp and connor is embarrassed that  olivia knows this. however, Olivia is still shy and embarrassed by her weight but connor falls in love with her (way to go!)
but embarrassing and strange things happen and they separate ways for about 9 years ( you will have to read the book to find out why)

When they meet again, Olivias grandparents have shut the camp down and it had been shut for a few years and fell into disrepair, The grandparents want to celebrate their 50th anniversary there and do their vows again, so have asked Olivia, now a fluffer (someone that makes property look great so they can sell at a higher price), to fix up the property. so she goes back to camp Kioga, from NY where she lives and works, to start repairs, she needs a construction crew so calls and who shows up?? your right! connor. Now owns a construction company and of course one thing leads to another and many awesome twists and turns come together again.   Olivia ends up with a half sister she never knew she had, her old boyfriend, and some other nice surprises.

I give this book 4 stars out of 5
